Amy Donaldson Standish, RYT 200
After many years of step, cycling, kickboxing, and hi/lo impact classes, Amy realized a yearning for “something more” than just exploring the physical component of fitness. Then, a weekend yoga intensive in 2003 convinced her that perhaps yoga was the missing puzzle piece to mind-body integration, thus, a comprehensive feeling of health and well being. Two years later, Amy completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program and has since embraced her role as student — both on and off the mat.Becoming AFAA certified in 1989 was the beginning of a powerful dedication to and enjoyment from working with individuals maintaining their physical health with group exercise classes. Amy has been deeply committed to both mental and physical health for most of her life. She obtained her baccalaureate degree from the Ohio State University College of Nursing and accepted an appointment as an officer in the Naval Nurse Corps upon passing the state boards. Upon completion of her military billet, she decided to make Jacksonville her home.Amy quotes Lao Tzu: “When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.”
